Adam is 3!

We are so excited our little man is 3! He's so fun to have in our family. Of course we started out the day with our traditional breakfast in bed. He chose Dunkin Donut munchkins.

Then we had a family birthday party for him that evening. His favorite thing right now is Thomas and trains. So we put cupcakes on a train set for his birthday cake. 

 Looks like he had a good birthday this year!

Tuesday Megan and Adam had their turn. Chris' Dad's office was welcoming a new doc and invited family to come along for the celebration. Katelyn wasn't able to come this night because of dance, that's why she got her own special night. Not sure how much Megan and Adam watched or enjoyed the game, but they had a fun time being there!

Adam turns 2!

My little boy turned 2! I can't believe he is that old. He is such a fun person to have in our house. He loves balls, trains, and Mickey Mouse. Because his birthday fell on a Thursday (long dance day for the girls), we celebrated his birthday on Friday. These are pictures on his birthday:

Since Adam loves Mickey Mouse, I went with a Mickey theme for his birthday celebration. Chris's family came over for cookies and ice cream and to open presents. Adam was excited about anything round and ball-like at his party. And the cookies were a hit!

Adam's first trip to the ER

Adam's first IV....well this is a picture of his hand wrapped after the IV got taken out. He's got his train blanket and apparently a show on so he's not too concerned about the bandage on his hand.

Adam is officially my first kid to need to go to the ER (knock on wood...don't want to start a trend). As I was packing upstairs to get ready for our family to go to Vegas for Thanksgiving, I heard Adam scream downstairs. The way he screamed, and even worse when I picked him up, I knew something was really wrong. I did my nurse head to toe assessment but couldn't find anything out of place. It seamed when I held him he calmed down. But I really knew something was wrong when my VERY active toddler didn't want to be put down. After a while of not getting better, we asked Chris' dad (a doctor) to come do his assessment. Nothing was really found either other than, yes, Adam was not acting normal. So, then it was a trip to our pediatrician for a night time pediatric check. We were thinking anything from a fall (but there was no evidence of one) to a scorpion sting (which there was also no evidence of one). The doctor couldn't really find anything either...so much for modern medicine! (Can you tell I was getting a little frustrated?) She said if he couldn't sleep that night then to take him to the ER. By this point it was late and so Adam was tired. I thought he would possibly just sleep it off, but he woke after only a few hours of sleep. So then it was off to the ER, with many tears from me worried about my baby, and tears to my mom that I might not be coming for Thanksgiving. As a nurse, I have to say that you would think I would be great with sick kids. I am. Just not my own. By the time we were at the hospital it was appearing that Adam was guarding his stomach when we would pick him up and he didn't like his underarms touched. The ER doc decided it was most likely abdominal so we went for x-rays. They then did blood work and an ultrasound of his abdomen to rule out anything bad. Then a LONG time later it was decided that maybe he was just full of a lot a stool. Great. An ER visit for poo! Adam seemed to be better after an enema so we just left it as that, even though he was still acting not completely normal. We had a follow-up visit with our pediatrician on the Monday after Thanksgiving. He felt it was possibly a cracked collar bone...so off we were to more x-rays. No crack. So we have a mystery that was never solved. A few days after the incident I did notice some bruising on the right side of his shoulder/neck area, so I am convinced it was a fall. In all, after a week Adam was back to normal. Glad he's OK!

"Don't eat the church!"

Today we went to Amy and Scott's ward for the kids Primary Program. The boys all did a great job. At one point during the program, Brock turned around to talk to Adam. Adam for some reason was licking the bench or just had his mouth up to the bench. Brock said to Adam, "Don't eat the church Adam, don't eat the church!" Brock was very concerned and said it several times. I love how little minds work and sometimes the funny things that come out of their mouth!

Swim, swim, swim

This has been our summer of swimming. Katelyn had a very eventful swimming summer, but Megan and Adam also took lessons and they did very well. Our big accomplishments: Megan is now not afraid of putting her face in the water. Yeah Megan! Adam and I took the mom tot class. At the beginning of the summer, he would not let me work with him on the skills they wanted us to work on. He just wanted to play and do what HE wanted to do. Who wouldn't? So our big accomplishment was that by the end of the summer he didn't scream at me when I wanted to work with him on floats and bubbles. He really does love the water, so I think next year we'll have to watch out. He's going to be a little fish!

Rockband!

My baby turned ONE!

I know I say this every time I reach an age milestone, but I REALLY can't believe Adam is ONE! He is such a good baby. He started walking at 11 months, and is a pretty accomplished walker now. That is early for my kids. He still looks too small to be walking. Adam's favorite toy is a ball. I think I'll just claim that this is his first word. I made him an ice cream cake shaped like a basketball. We invited family over for dinner. Then when Chris got home from work, we opened presents and had cake and ice cream. Of course, Adam loved his first introduction to cake. We just love having Adam in our family!

Adam is 9 months

I can't believe we are already at 9 months. It's always a little bit of a milestone for me when my babies reach the point when they have been "outside" longer than "inside cooking." When I am pregnant it feels like the longest 9 months of my life. Then some how the next 9 fly by. Adam is doing really well. He is showing more of his personality. He is active but also sweet and cuddly. Here's his list accomplishments now:
-20 lbs! (it took my girls 15 months to get to 20 lbs)
-getting first teeth - 2 on the bottom - not such a happy teether...we can't be good at everything
-climbs up stairs like a champ, still learning how to get back down
-big belly laughs, high pitched screams (happy and sad)
-loves to cuddle
-babble talking and almost constant motor boat sounds
-light blond hair is getting longer and still sticks straight up!

Halloween

We had a great Halloween this year. Katelyn decided to be Ariel. Megan was Minnie Mouse. Adam had a cute Halloween shirt and a monster hat and monster slippers (thanks to Amy for letting us borrow).

Katelyn's school did a costume parade on Friday before Halloween. The Kindergarten through 3rd graders get to be in the parade and the rest of the school gets to watch the parade. Parents and kids get to come and watch the parade too. I was wisely informed by a friend that the younger siblings often dress up for the parade too (to watch, not participate). That made it a lot easier to get ready for school that morning because when Megan knew Katelyn was putting her costume on, Megan did not want to be left out!

Then on Halloween evening, we went again with the Partridge's to their neighborhood party. We enjoyed hot dogs and chili for dinner, games, and of course candy. We then went home to do a little trick-or-treating in our own neighborhood. Chris chose to stay home with Adam and answer our door, while I went with the girls around the neighborhood. We had so much fun seeing friends and the girls had fun getting candy! We then topped our evening off with one final trick-or-treat to Grandma-ma and Grandpa Ed's. The kids were thoroughly spoiled and enjoyed every minute of it. Now if only we could get rid of all the candy without eating all of it....

7 months and still rockin'

Adam just turned 7 months old, and my how the time has flown.  Working in my office next door to Adam's room, I'm usually the first one to know when he wakes up.  Sometimes he wakes up happy.  Lately, it usually also means that he's standing up in his crib and trying to rock the side of it back and forth.  He's pretty happy with himself and being able to stand himself up.  He's growing so quickly it often amazes me.  We love Adam!

6 months ago....

Wow, Adam is now 6 months old. Time sure does go quickly. Here's the new list of things going on in Adam's world:

• 16 pounds 9 ounces - by far the biggest of my babies
• 28 inches - tall, tall, tall!
• hair is coming in - almost white it's so blond and so wispy it just sticks straight up
  
• crawls...although he really prefers to get somewhere where he can pull himself up to stand
• goes from crawling to a sitting position like a pro
  
• babbles/"talks" a lot - possibly channeling Katelyn
• totally dislikes vegetables - really, he gags if I do not mix it with rice cereal to mask the flavor - I'm going to blame Grandpa Partridge on that one ;)
• happy and smiley nearly all the time

Adam is 4 months old

Adam turned 4 months old while we were in Disneyland. I can't believe he is already 4 months. In one sense, it feels like we just got him here, in the other sense I can't remember what it was like without him. We love our little man! Some of his favorite things at 4 months....

Height - 26 1/2 inches (above 90th percentile)
Weight - 13 lbs 14 ounces (about 25th percentile)
